I don’t know if you’ve heard about the recent “cancelling” (brutal harassment) of Lindsay Ellis, but she made a video essay on it that was incredible and alongside some other happenings a lot of these thoughts are being brought up again. Honestly, I feel pretty exhausted and I can’t imagine anyone would want to join left wing communities watching from the outside how they tear themselves apart.

A popular movement means a large diversity of opinions and cultural attitudes working together. If we can’t handle even minor “infractions” or differences in belief, then we don’t have a mass movement. I think people will learn to chill out over time, but right now it’s really acute and I think I’ll disengage from certain spaces.
